With prostate cancer being the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, early detection remains critical. According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, nearly 72 men are diagnosed every day, with one in five at risk of developing the disease in their lifetime.
A prostate MRI scan is often recommended for patients with elevated Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) levels, those with a family history of prostate cancer, or when a previous biopsy has returned inconclusive results. MRI offers a highly accurate way to visualise the prostate and surrounding tissues—helping to detect signs of prostate cancer earlier and guide treatment decisions with greater confidence.
Prostate MRI also plays an increasingly important role in prostate cancer screening, particularly when used in conjunction with PSA testing.
